Aaliyah Dana Haughton
Aaliyah Dana Haughton, know as just Aaliyah was a prominent and up-and-coming singer in the 90’s. She was a born in Brooklyn NYC and grew up in Detroit. At an early age, she started appearing on shows like Star Search and concerts with artist like Gladys Knight. By age 12, she signed with Jive Records and Blackground Record. Later, she was introduced to R.Kelly, who became her mentor and songwriter. The Album she released, Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number, sold 3 million records and went double platinum. She worked with Timberland and Missy Elliott on her second album which was followed by her venture into movies. Aaliyah appeared in her first major film, Romeo Must Die. She later filmed Queen of the Dammed and released her third album. Unfortunately in 2001, Aaliyah was killed in an airplane crash in the Bahamas.
